Nearer, My God, to Thee

If studying theology (logy – words; theo – about God) was sufficient work to make us know Jesus, we wouldn’t need the Holy Spirit in our lives. The book is usually better than the movie, but neither the book nor the movie are sufficient process for the development of a real relationship.

Having a developing relationship with Jesus is how we come to know Him, though. He wants us to know all His ways. He teaches us to know Him as a Healer by allowing us to get sick. He introduces us to Himself as the Warrior Who leads the hosts of Heaven when we find our selves in battles. He is Wisdom to us when we ask for guidance in our confusion. He is the Comforter, but we discover it when our hearts are broken.

Use the rough stuff in your life to get close to the Lover of your soul.
