Heal The Sick

If I am sick and not getting healed too quickly, someone may tell me to go to a physician. “God gave us the medicine.” What sort of label should be placed on me if I prefer something supernatural? Jesus did not tell the people He sent out with instructions on how to bring the Kingdom that sounded like, “Try to heal them. If that doesn’t work, give them money so that they can see a physician.” His instructions were, “When you enter any town, and they welcome you, eat the things set before you. Heal the sick who are there, and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near you.’”

It is a ministry of the Kingdom of Heaven to bring the things of Heaven into the places where we have responsibility and authority. He did not send the 70 out to invite people to church meetings or revivals or Bible studies. He sent them out to both preach and demonstrate His Kingdom. That probably sounds as extreme as, “Go – sell all that you have, give what you receive from the sale to the poor, and then come back and start following me.”

So: maybe He isn’t calling you to preach and demonstrate His Kingdom. Whatever He is calling you into, do it as if it is the reason you have breath in your lungs and strength in your back and understanding in your mind. Do it as if it is worth His life being spent to purchase your life to be lived. Be awesome.
