Knowing Him
The more we know Jesus, the more He reveals to us who we are. Be clear, though – it is not knowledge about Him that can open our eyes this way. It is knowing Him.
As He reveals Himself to us, He reveals both the future identity He already considers us to have, and the contrasting, current, fleshy, dead identity that needs to be boxed and buried. He shows us a future in a place of life, and He shows us the contrast of a dead skin that needs to be shed. It is related to who we used to be.
Knowing Him in our problems makes Him able to reveal the overcomer in us. When John the Baptizer baptized people, the Holy Spirit showed him their sin. When Jesus approached him for a dipping, the Holy Spirit showed him his own sin. We will become what we behold in Him, as He reveals what needs to be washed away.
Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit.
