Broken In
Old, comfortable, worn-out shoes are easy to walk in without much thought. I am in awe on days when I am praying over some women’s feet because I notice how injured they happen to be from wearing tall heels on pointed-toed shoes. I wonder how painful the process of injury was. I wonder how much pain their ankles experienced as they walked with balanced steps while struggling to stay balanced on the tiny heel. How difficult is it to stay focused on each step, to avoid a mis-step and a fall?
How could I become that aware of each spiritual step I take? The dangers of injury to myself and to others is much greater in that realm.
Lead me, Lord, in the way of righteousness. Let Your Light and Your Truth show me the level path. Let them bring me to your dwelling place. Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God.
