Advice or Agreement

Frequently we ask for advice when all we are wanting is agreement with decisions we have already made. Some human advice is deadly, and some is the undiluted living word of Yahweh. On days, the only way we can tell the difference is by being able to examine our hearts to discern how influence-able we might be. Until we are willing to take direction from the Holy Spirit, no matter how costly or painful or embarrassing it may be to follow it, we cannot be sure to hear His advice.

How can we test our hearts at that depth? If I cannot trust myself, how can I know if I will trust Jesus? One place we can see very clear indications of our abilities to hear Him is in the place of what we value. Where your treasure is, your heart will be. If He calls you to part with some of your treasure, you can see your heart exposed. Everything in the earth is subject to theft and spoilage. Lay up for yourselves, therefore, treasures in Heaven. That costly process requires that your heart be in Heaven. That makes your heart more trustworthy, both in stewardship of stuff and in acceptance of revelation and Godly advice.

It will make the decision float above the level of trying to discern right from wrong, and place you at the altitude of righteousness, where His influence gives you abundance of life. Proverbs 3:5-6.
