Numbers 13
Once upon a time, a group of people who had been a nation’s slaves cried out to their ancestors’ God for help. That God sort of surprised them by sending someone to them to lead them in a revolution. He successfully led them out of the nation that had owned them, and took them out to another place, where there were 7 nations living. He told them that He was going to give them the land that the 7 nations owned and make them a great nation.
One day while they were still on the way from the former place to the new place, the God spoke to the revolutionary and told him to send 12 scouts into the new land. He wanted the scouts to be leaders from each of the 12 tribes of the slaves. He had already told them through the revolutionary that He was going to drive out the 7 nations and give them their land. The scouts went through the nations looking at the land.
2 of the scouts believed what the God had told them, even though the sights they saw when they went through the land astonished them. The other 10 just couldn’t believe it could be true, so they disheartened all the slaves with their doubt.
All the slaves died without seeing the promise fulfilled except the 2 scouts who had the crazy faith. Something might happen in your life today, tomorrow, or any surprising day that could be just as consequential in your life and/or the lives of the people you are called to influence. Learn the lesson at the expense of the slaves. Don’t let doubt ruin your life or the lives of people you influence.
Be awesome. Your God is. He picked you so you could be too.
