Moving From the Shadows

Therefore don’t let anyone judge you in regard to food and drink or in the matter of a festival or a new moon or a sabbath day. These are a shadow of what was to come; the substance is the Messiah.

(Colossians 2:16-18 Holman Christian Standard Bible ©®)

Since the law has only a shadow of the good things to come, and not the actual form of those realities, it can never perfect the worshipers by the same sacrifices they continually offer year after year.

(Hebrews 10:1-2 Holman Christian Standard Bible ©®)

You can look at the shadow of an object and get ideas about what it really looks like, but it only has limited information to offer, and never has the realization of an experience with the object or person to offer. You can know some things about Jesus through reading about Him, but you will only really know Him by spending time with Him and learning to have conversation with Him.

He wants to have a relationship with you that changes who you are and causes you to know Who He is. No matter how out of reach such fellowship seems, expecting it will open the door to real-izing it.
