Your Ministry and His Ministry

Some lessons we might learn about our ministries from Jesus during the last Passover meal (John 13-17):

  1. You are a servant to the people you are called to influence and help (washing feet).
  2. Do not fear the people who are intent on controlling or destroying you or your work (Judas was invited to the meal and the foot washing).
  3. Expect the people you serve to do greater things than you in their revelation or works (“…you will do the same works I do, and greater works…”).
  4. When you equip them, give the reins to them so that they become responsible for leadership (“…if you ask anything in My name, I will do it…”).
  5. Raise up the people you influence to be your friends, not your property or tools (“…I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything…”).
  6. Pray for yourself and your ministry (“…Father, the hour has come – glorify Your Son…”).
  7. Pray for them and their ministries (“…Holy Father, protect them by Your name, …so they may be one, as You and I are one…”).
  8. Pray for the people they lead to Jesus and their ministries (“…I pray not only for these, but also for those who will believe in Me through their message…”).
  9. Give them the words Jesus gave you (“…the words You gave Me, I have given them…”)
