Your Ministry and His Ministry
Some lessons we might learn about our ministries from Jesus during the last Passover meal (John 13-17):
- You are a servant to the people you are called to influence and help (washing feet).
- Do not fear the people who are intent on controlling or destroying you or your work (Judas was invited to the meal and the foot washing).
- Expect the people you serve to do greater things than you in their revelation or works (“…you will do the same works I do, and greater works…”).
- When you equip them, give the reins to them so that they become responsible for leadership (“…if you ask anything in My name, I will do it…”).
- Raise up the people you influence to be your friends, not your property or tools (“…I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything…”).
- Pray for yourself and your ministry (“…Father, the hour has come – glorify Your Son…”).
- Pray for them and their ministries (“…Holy Father, protect them by Your name, …so they may be one, as You and I are one…”).
- Pray for the people they lead to Jesus and their ministries (“…I pray not only for these, but also for those who will believe in Me through their message…”).
- Give them the words Jesus gave you (“…the words You gave Me, I have given them…”)
