When The Time And Place are Just Right

Cyrene was a city in what is now called Libya. It was home to some of Stephen’s detractors in Acts 6:7-15. It was also home to a man named Simon, who came to Jerusalem for Passover the year Jesus died (Mark 15:20-22).

While he came with the simple intention of participating in the national observation of remembering being set free from Egypt, he became directly involved in the sacrifice of the Lamb of God. This year, the Sacrifice initiated all of humanity being invited to be set free from sin.

When Jesus described His future judgement of nations as a separation like dividing goats from sheep, neither group knew what they were being judged for; they all asked for clarity regarding when they had met Jesus and either fed Him or not, clothed Him or not, etc. (Matthew 25:31-46). Every day could present us with an opportunity to be part of the realization of His sacrifice accomplishing the liberation of someone we encounter that day. We may feed them, we may not. We may visit them, maybe not.

Live today as if any turn in it could lead you into an eternally valuable moment in someone’s life. You won’t guess ahead of time what it amounts to, perhaps. You may just be standing at a corner or in front of the cucumbers at a market or anywhere, and there will be Jesus, having a need.

Don’t miss it. Be awesome.
